Rowling Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
DQ Entertainment released an announcement that their 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to J.K. Rowling on October 4. This prestigious award goes to the artist whom the judges believe have contributed to the entertainment world outstanding work which crosses the boundaries of culture, language and other factors. This is only the second year that the award has been presented and apparently the judges "were almost unanimous in their choice of J.K. Rowling." Ms. Rowling was unable to attend the event, so the president of Warner Brothers UK, Mr. Josh Berger, accepted the award for her. From the press release:
"DQE is a leading animation, gaming and entertainment production and global distribution group engaged in production, co-production and original IP development with a workforce of 2,788 and a global client - partner base of over 90 producers, distributors, broadcasters and licensors including Walt Disney Television Animation, Nickelodeon Animation Studios Inc., Electronic Arts, Marvel Comics, American Greetings, NBC-Universal, BBC Group, M6/ France TV/ TF-1 Broadcasting groups from France, ZDF Germany and many more world-wide."
Ms. Rowling was seen at Stella McCartney's fashion show in Paris during Fashion Week though. She attended with tickets she had won at an auction in June that raised money for the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation. She was quoted in the Telegraph as "working on something," which she alluded to on her new Twitter account. She assures us it is not Harry Potter related, and we are excited to see what new adventure and cultural contribution Ms. Rowling will bring the world.
Thanks to Leaky Cauldron.
